What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you love most about your role at Eastside?

I have always loved helping others since I was a kid. I participated in many volunteer opportunities at my church and in my community through 4-H. I knew one day I would become a teacher, and would be able use my gifts and abilities to help others in a God-pleasing way.

My roles in teaching at Eastside have changed over the years, which truly makes me love Eastside's flexibility of utilizing each staff member's strengths. Eastside's congregation members have seen me use my gifts and abilities to truly accomplish many aspects of teaching from when I was first assigned to Eastside as a Kindergarten teacher and school music coordinator; to filling the role of Early Childhood Director and continuing to teach Kindergarten; to 5th Grade homeroom teacher and 7/8th Grade American History and Art teacher; to 7/8th Grade Homeroom Teacher and School Technology Coordinator.

How does your faith influence your work at Eastside?

My faith allows me to stay grounded even in the most difficult of times, and it reminds me to rejoice even with the smallest of accomplishments.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of school?

Reading, exploring and camping with my husband, Luke, and our 3 children.

What is a fun fact about you that students may not know?

I grew up on a beef cattle farm in Michigan. My parents still run the farm, and I have helped drive tractor and other farm equipment on various occasions.
